High-Capacity Linear Swing Gate Automation for Residential and Commercial Sites

The Viking Access G-5 Single Swing Gate Operator is a 24 VDC linear actuator system for automating one residential, commercial, industrial, or restricted-access vehicular swing gate. Its published gate capacity ranges from 2,000 lb at 10 ft to 800 lb at 18 ft, with a 100% continuous-duty cycle for applications requiring frequent operation.

The G-5 combines a high-torque motor and mechanical lead-screw drive with Viking's VFlex control system, onboard LCD diagnostics, adjustable obstruction detection, mechanical limits, battery backup, and multiple power options. The standard ECU accepts 120 or 240 VAC single-phase input and can also support appropriately configured low-voltage or solar installations.

Two single-gate configurations are available. Choose the G5NX-S for the operator and single-gate control system only, or select the VA-G5SLK when the installation also needs Viking's VA-ACKSWING radio and monitored photoeye accessory package.

The Swing Gate Accessory Kit included with the VA-G5SLK adds:

Installation and Safety Considerations

The G-5's maximum gate weight depends on the length of the gate leaf. A 2,000 lb capacity applies to a 10 ft gate, while the maximum published capacity at 18 ft is 800 lb. Gate construction, hinge condition, mounting geometry, wind load, and freedom of movement should be evaluated before selecting the operator.

The single ECU controls one G-5 operator only. Dual swing gates require the appropriate dual-gate configuration.

UL 325 requires monitored external entrapment protection in applicable entrapment zones. The VA-G5SLK includes one monitored XP30-10K photoeye, while the G5NX-S does not include the accessory package. Additional monitored devices may still be required depending on the gate layout and potential entrapment areas.

Conclusion
